Hardware Hackathon
The WSU Hardware Hackathon is an event hosted by WSU IEEE. It is a 24-hour event where students from various majors and experience levels work in teams, use electronics, tools and programming to build a project based on a given theme. The event provides hands-on learning and gives students the opportunity to explore new technologies while developing real-world engineering skills. WSU IEEE provides tools, equipment and parts that allow students to explore the limits of their ideas.

E4 Career Fair
The WSU E4 Career Fair is a way we connect students with employers, industry professionals and organizations from Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software, Computer Engineering and technology fields. The event provides students with the opportunity to explore career paths, learn about internship and full-time positions, network with industry professionals and gain insight into the skills and experiences employers are looking for. This is a great way for students at many stages of their professional journey to enter the workforce, the E4 Career Fair helps bridge the gap between classroom learning and workplace industry.
General Meetings
WSU IEEE hosts General Meetings biweekly, from 5-6 pm in various classrooms in VCEA. This is where upcoming events, workshops and tabling are announced. Stopping by for a meeting is a great way to catch up with what’s being planned, and connect with other members of the IEEE community.
After each General Meeting, WSU IEEE conducts short workshops. Workshops are taught by one of the WSU IEEE Officers and give students the opportunity to be exposed to new electronics, software and equipment within a controlled environment.
Some of the workshops that WSU IEEE has done include:
- OLED Screen with ESP32s
- ESP32 with speaker and amplification system
- Introduction to Matlab
- Introduction to LTSPICE
- Introduction to Solidworks CAD
Events
WSU IEEE hosts many events for all skill levels throughout the year.
- SMD & THT Soldering
- During these events students were given the opportunity to complete beginner level surface mount soldering kits and through hole soldering kits.
- PCB Design
- Students were walked through the PCB design process, starting with part procurement to finishing with traces and routing. At the end of the event, students have a fully functioning design that can be sent to a PCB manufacturer for printing.
- Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort
- For one weekend, WSU IEEE members are given the opportunity to visit a log cabin in Schweitzer Mountain Resort with large occupancy. Log cabin is provided by club advisor.
- Pumpkin Carving
- WSU IEEE provides students with an electronic motion detecting audio player that plays a short audio clip. Audio player is placed within a pumpkin that students carve during the event.
Tabling
WSU IEEE participates in many tabling events to show off club capabilities, future events and future meetings, as well as getting students involved in the point of contact, discord, and the official WSU involve page.
These include:
- VCEA Inside Scoop
- A welcome-back event featuring Ferdinand’s ice cream, where WSU IEEE connects with incoming and current engineering students by demonstrating the club’s projects and activities, while introducing students to the opportunities available through IEEE.
- Week of Welcome – All Campus Picnic
- A campus-wide welcome event. WSU IEEE introduces itself to new and returning students, sharing upcoming events and encouraging involvement in the engineering community.
- Get Involved Fair
- A university-wide event where students can explore campus organizations and discover ways to get involved. WSU IEEE uses this opportunity to promote membership, connect with prospective members, and highlight upcoming meetings and activities.
